The NBA’s #GiannisAgenda is in full effect.
After being exposed for his many glaring flaws vs the Heat, in one of the biggest upsets ever, the NBA figured they need to get one of the guys they are pushing to be a new face of the league, with Lebron on his way out, some help.
And boy did they ever do that – they helped get Dame to Milwaukee, while retaining Middleton, and DPoY runner up, Brook Lopez. Dame Lillard. The guy who has 2 memorable playoff series game winners; the guy who, if Steph Curry didn’t exist, is by far the best long distance shooting guard ever.
Dame time. The guy who dropped 71 points on my Rockets last season, actually. Stepback 3s, pull up 3s, acrobatic layups, an emphatic dunk. One of the most clutch players I have ever seen.
Basically the Milwaukee Bucks now get an actual superstar, who will mask all of Giannis’ flaws, because he is what Giannis isn’t – someone clutch, unafraid of the moment, who can go to the line without fear, who can close out games, who has a deep bag of moves, handles and athleticism at the guard spot that make him one of the baddest dudes in the entire NBA.
After such a flameout, the NBA needs Giannis and small market teams like the Bucks to get a win, so that’s what this is. I think it is shameful, and the NBA is not even pretending to not help Giannis out anymore, after all, it is a business – when the foreign players do well, more international viewers watch, which means more revenue. I was in Dubai last month, and in the Dubai mall, at sports stores, I saw lots of Giannis jerseys, funny, because 90% of the people in Dubai never heard of Milwaukee or Wisconsin in general, you tell them it is “near Chicago” and that is about the closest they get to understanding where it is.
Well Dame, here is your shot at a title, you were one of my favorite players, but now I have to root against you, but it’s likely a 3 team race in the East, barring injuries.
